Symmetry, Integrability and Geometry: Methods and Applications (SIGMA)

Proceedings of the Microconference Analytic and Algebraic Methods V (May 27–28, 2009, Prague, Czech Republic).

The Guest Editor for this special issue is Miloslav Znojil

After cca 8 months of preparation of this special issue (i.e., after all the emailed invitations of the eligible authors and after all the refereeing and rejections), we are witnessing a paradox. The final set of the accepted and published papers in ''Proceedings'' appears perceivably disconnected from our original 2009 AAMP meeting in Prague (cf. the list of lectures in http://gemma.ujf.cas.cz/~znojil/conf/micromeeting5.html).

This phenomenon is in fact not too surprising because the majority of lecturers mostly spoke about their already published work this time. In parallel, the majority of the accepted (i.e., original and high-quality) papers was submitted by non-participants who, obviously, started to be well aware of the increasing prestige of the special issues published in SIGMA.

The net result of such a hidden psychological mechanism is that the list of topics of the present collection of published papers covers a broader area than the meeting itself. This is, naturally, no shortcoming, especially because the original unifying principle of this issue (viz., its restriction to the subject of Analytic and Algebraic Methods in Physics) survived.
