The International Mathematical Union will award travel grants to young mathematicians permanently working in developing and economically disadvantaged countries (not necessarily members of IMU) to enable them to attend the ICM. Please note that senior mathematicians are not eligible for this program, but, for any given ICM, IMU and the Local Organizing Committee may create a separate program for senior mathematicians.
In addition to the IMU travel grant, the Local Organizing Committee of the International Congress of Mathematicians traditionally provides an allowance to the grantees to cover their registration, board and lodging.
The age-limit for the grantees is 35 years at the time of the Congress. Candidates must be able to present evidence of research work of post-doctoral quality, and should be able to benefit from interaction with mathematicians from other countries attending the Congress.
Applications should be submitted on-line via the relevant Congress website by 1 January of the year of the Congress.
For ICM2006, the following Financial Support Programme provides information about who can apply for support and how.
