MATHEMATICAL INSTITUTIONS' PARTICIPATION IN WMY 2000
EUROPEAN MATHEMATICAL SOCIETY (EMS)
The European Mathematical Society wishes to take a very active part in
the preparation of
WMY 2000. The third EMS Congress will be held in 2000 and should be
included in the
activities of WMY 2000. A special Committee with correspondents in each
European country
will shortly be appointed by the Executive Committee.
BERNOULLI SOCIETY
The Bernoulli Society for Mathematical Statistics and Probability is in
the process of
establishing a committee to enable the Society to participate in the
activities of WMY 2000.
The committee will be chaired by past president O.E. Barndorff-Nielsen
and its scientific
secretary will be Professor Rolando Rebolledo. The scientific secretary
of the Bernoulli
Society, presently Professor Richard Gill, will be an ex officio member
of the committee. Once
the committee is in place, the names of all its members will be given in
the next issue of the
Newsletter. The 5th World Congress of the Bernoulli Society will be held
in 2000, and it
should be included as part of the WMY 2000 activities.
